PRESS RELEASE on the working visit of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar (February 17 – 18, 2024)
On February 17, 2024, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan Rahmon Yusuf Ahmadzod took a working visit to the State of Qatar.
During the working visit, an official meeting was held between the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Prosecutor General of the State of Qatar, Dr. Issa bin Saad al-Jufari al-Nuaimi, within which of strengthening bilateral cooperation on the practical implementation of international treaties on the extradition of criminals, on the provision of legal assistance in criminal cases and the return of convicts to further serve their sentences, which were signed in 2023.
During the negotiations, cooperation between the countries' prosecutor's offices in countering international terrorism, radicalization and extremism, human trafficking, drug trafficking and other manifestations of transnational organized crime was also discussed, and the importance of uniting the parties in the collective combating these phenomena was assessed.
The parties, within the framework of interagency cooperation and on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the State of Qatar dated 2019, reached an agreement on cooperation in order to increase the intellectual potential of each other’s employees and develop infrastructure in the field of using new digital technologies and artificial intelligence in their activities prosecutor's office.
